making progress

Ryan is doing well today. His PICC line was inserted and the TPN is running. He was also hooked up to continuous tube feedings to see if his stomach can handle it, and so far so good. He has Pedialyte running at only 1 ounce an hour so it’s a small amount but he is tolerating it so far. I have no idea how long we’ll be here but at this rate it will be at least til the end of the week.

On another note, Travis found out this morning that as of March 1st, he will no longer have a job. His company is contracted through the state and that contract has been cancelled so everyone is losing their job. We would appreciate your prayers. This is never an easy situation for anyone to face but the timing right now sure stinks.

It’s definitely hard to understand why things happen when they do but I’m thankful that even when I am scared about the future with Ryan and Travis’s job, I can still count on God to go before us and prepare the way. He knew this was going to happen which means he also knows the end of the story.

If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest ocean, your hand will guide me even there. ~ Psalm 139:8-10

I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. ~ Psalm 27:13-14

  1. Oh my goodness, will pray for Travis to find a new job!! Perhaps at Christian Heritage or Cedars? We just heard that KVC will no longer be working with the state. . . is that who Travis was working for? I know you must wonder sometimes how God’s plan will work out? We are glad to hear that things seem to be progressing for Ryan. We look forward to your posts.

  2. Kim – I am sorry that this is such an unstable time for your family. Yesterday when I heard that KVC was pulling out, I immediately thought of Travis and was praying that his job would be one that would be picked up by the state. Child welfare has been such an interesting world these past 2 years. I will pray for Travis, Ryan’s progress and for the rest of your family as well. Peace and prayers to you…

  3. Hi Kim and Travis,

Sending continued prayers for Ryan. So sorry to hear about Travis and his job situation. I will continue to keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. We have plenty of work available in North Dakota and lots of available housing in Bismarck. Just thought i would toss that out there if your interested.

  4. So sorry to hear about Travis’s job! But I know you are faithful and will see your way through this trial. The first thing that popped into my mind is that now Travis can take care of Ryan while he recovers. I know you were worried about being out of sick and vacation time, so maybe this can be a blessing in disguise, which will allow you to continue working uninterrupted. Sending prayers that Travis will find a new job soon!
